Priority #1 = YOU
In this business I’ve noticed a pattern: the second life gets busy, the first thing to fall by the wayside is fitness. This is not okay. Before you can take care of work, your friends, your family, you have to take care of yourself and your health.
I understand that you have commitments, and so do I. I’m not saying to shirk your responsibilities so you can go to the gym. And if you need to skip a workout, by all means, do it. Life happens. But it’s about avoiding creating a habit of letting everything come before you on the priorities list. So after you skip a workout, it is so important to be back in your routine the next day.
You are important. You deserve to be confident, strong, and healthy! Taking care of yourself is a daily practice and, like I said last week, it takes time and effort. But at the end of the day, all you have is your health, and it is worth doing everything you can to protect it.
Not only is it not good for you, it’s good for the people around you. There is an analogy I love, where you are a bucket. You need to fill your bucket so you have something to give to others. You can’t give from an empty bucket.
So how do you fill your bucket? You do things for yourself. It can be anything that makes you feel recharged, happy, healthy, and fulfilled. It could be as simple as eating a delicious healthy meal, or creating something beautiful, or making time for your workout. Sometimes filling your bucket is a bit more difficult like seeking help or making a big change in life. But in the end, by doing things for you allow you to give your best self to others.
Besides allowing you to give your best self to them, those who love you want you to be healthy for yourself too. They want the best for you. They want you to be strong and empowered. So if you won’t do it for you, do it for them.
If you take anything away from this post, it’s that your workout is as important as anything else you do to take care of yourself. You are worth the time. You are worth the effort.
