Salad Sucks - How You Can Find Healthy Food to Eat So You Don't Have to Eat Salad For Every Meal
I have never eaten a salad in my life. I’ll say it again: I HAVE NEVER EATEN A SALAD AND THAT IS OKAY!
Yes I have tried it, many times, but I could never get through the entire thing. I just don’t like it. I'm sorry. I don’t.
I’ve always been a picky eater, and I find the uncooked veggies too bitter and I don’t like vinegar (which is in most dressings).
Unfortunately for me, salad is a staple of healthy eating and because of my dislike for it, I don’t fit neatly into the health conscious culture. Whenever I go out to dinner or lunch with friends I am one of the only people not ordering a salad. It feels weird. I had to stop caring what other people thought, which wasn't easy.
Over the years, after a lot of trial and error (and a lot of forcing myself to eat things I hate), I figured out how to eat in a healthy way that works for me. If I don’t like it, I won’t eat it. I have had a lot of disappointing meals and no-one should feel that way. Eating should be fun. You should love what you eat. You should feel satisfied after you eat. That way you are less inclined to reach for the treats afterwards. I promise there is something healthy for everyone. You just need to find it.
Here are a few tips I used to find my way of healthy eating:
Pick up a cookbook aimed at kids
Try a meal-planning app that allows you to input your preferences (I like Mealime)
Ask your friends and family what they like to make and ask them to teach you
Walk through the grocery store slowly, sometimes you can find something that interests you
Try a meal kit
Take a cooking class, you might learn something awesome
